composition six.

The artist places 8 microphones around a room. Originally I was thinking contact mics only but after sometime I think an array would do better. That number is flexible. Also 8 amplifiers or/and receivers, and speakers are placed throughout the room. Each speaker would be inside a box that at the top a circular hole had been cut that was cradling a bowl. The bowl would be filled with water with a light underneath (in the box). The bass for each speaker is turned all the way up. Do low lighting (colored if possible) so that the light from the water creates ambiance. Place leaves, hollow blown eggs, felt with crinkle paper below it, or other possible "noisy" items on the floor (Also may not be necessary - test out both ways (no floor items first) this really depends on the show space).

As people investigate the show, the microphones will transfer their sounds into amplified sound making the water react thus in turn making the water vibrate and the light shift shining through the water. Also the show will become breathy with the bass sounds. The show will only react if somewhere is there to interact. I feel like the most charming aspect to this piece is the tree falling in the woods makes a sound only if you are there insinuation. The viewer and artist are working together 100%

8 microphones would fluctuate. I have 4. (borrow)
120$ 8 Amplifiers also would fluctuate. See Altoid Amplifier $15 each.
48$ for 8 recievers (thrift store)
8 speakers (borrow)
8 boxes (draw diagram with measurements)

This project could easily be installed and accomplished for a one night viewing. Based on your network this could be a free installation. Also take into account the space you show as far as layout and possible floor sounds. And good equipment to acquire for future sound pieces.

1 day.
3 days Altoid Amp constructing.
3 days box construction.

[ image from: www.flickr.com/photos/humono/3972259744/] Fill a room with balloons. In each balloon place remnants (either previously found or crafted) from a party. For example empty cups, cigarette butts, napkins, cocktail sticks, food scraps etc. In the entrance place a basket of pins. Each viewer is invited to pop as many of the balloons as wanted.

The Audience Participates.

$70 1000 balloons plus shipping
$190 2 large helium tanks (because storing would be the big issue and this will put a dent in getting the balloons filled - 2 will mean you will still need to hand fill some)

1 day plus shipping

power of the frame.

I think I have head over heals fallen in love with the picture frame. While looking at Jason Kraus (amazing!) it felt really wonderful. His work was great and I felt really strongly about it. I also feel like I'm meandering that way in toddler steps. See piece to left.

Also, I have my first physical project in line with the compositions project.

A} The composition project is about documenting my ideas that I can't complete for one reason or another right now. My hope is that a physical sketch book will be an investment to their merit and will encourage me to perhaps begin to do them. Also I would like other people who can, to feel free and make the pieces or be inspired by them.Ultimately it feels hard, but that is the art I would like to pursue.

B} I would also like to track down previous conceptual pieces from other artist that had event, happenings, performance, etc. typed sketches or written instructions and perform them myself. Just for personal practice and different ways of thinking, and because I am intrigued in also becoming a spectator to instructions.

With that -- I hope to do perform a Yoko Ono Instructional November 2cnd.

I was weary for a moment due to Yoko's introduction to the book and what the pieces mean to her. I for some reason had a lot of assumptions that were different than I expected. She meant them as pieces to imagine and for her just the very act of typing them and exhibiting them felt revolutionary. Which for me I was excited to perform other performers work that had never been exhibited -- I hadn't taken into account that they chose it to not be performed and done. I guess in part that is the vulnerability to being an artist. After some thought I decided that I would perform some of Yoko's pieces alone with documentation. I guess in thinking about it -- I feel especially inspired by the simplicity of the instructional paintings enough that I imagined myself really doing them.

"Hello Ms. Sanders –

Your request has been forwarded to me; I believe we’ve spoken about this type of scenario before, if my memory serves me correctly?

A court reporter’s fee would be $7 pp and $250 for per diem. Reporters have to be in a somewhat controlled environment, to easily hear and identify who is speaking, and they can only take down one person speaking at a time. They can not take general conversations of a group of people walking about. We’re unfamiliar with your type of scenario, so I’m just making sure to explain the necessary parameters.

If it’s sustained talking, a reporter can get about 45 pages in an hour or more. You mentioned you’d want them for a four-hour block so a good faith estimate would be about $1500 for that time period in total, depending on how fast and how much they talked. The transcript would take ten business days to complete. If you request it sooner, there are expedited fees assessed to the page rates.

Please let me know if I may answer any further questions for you,

Regards,

Corri

composition three.

The artist rents 2 snack machines, a coin machine, and a beverage vending machines. On the day of the opening the artist fills one snack machine with cheese cubes, crackers, grapes, small packaged hummus, cookies, wine -- or the standard opening fare in their community. The artist fills one machine with personal objects (I would do my underwear drawer something banal in actual provocative in nature). The artist also fills the coke machine with mini wines, beers and coke. The machines are arranged in the middle of the room occupying the space usual occupied by the viewers (think about the cords visually). Mirrors are on outer walls placed so that viewers may reflect on their encounter with the machines. All money from machines is split with gallery, price on piece was price spent on each machine.

The audience participates. Documentation is allowed but that is the show.

$1,800 max $600 each to purchase and transport off craigslist, researching rental vending machines.
must keep researching coin machine.

$0 - $150 standard food and beer to stock machine, or use standard gallery spread.

3 days depending on transport ease.
may provide storage nightmare.

Wikipedia

The artist walks his/her self through Atlanta on the same path as General Sherman during the Atlanta Campaign painted in gold body paint. One person accompanies to take pictures and document the long walk. The artist must familiarize themselves with the original march and areas in march. There is a knowledge and love that must be fostered. At end artist must compare past Atlanta "state" to current city "state". Note on changing neighborhoods and the socio-politics of a specific neighborhood. Artist must document this into words upon completion.

The gallery would feature the images and documentation of assistant and the words of the artist. Either on purpose or by accident the artist must pair the word documents with the photos (for example - The artist can base the words strictly on the photos or the essays can be written without seeing the photos).

$12 book. (check)
8 photo prints

1 day. date available.
September 2. Day that Atlanta was surrendered.
2 weeks max images printed time and collect thoughts
3 weeks to learn about the Atlanta Campaign and plan route

please look her up.

The artist casts a lifesize model of his/her self into soap. Photos are taken every month of the soap. Documentation either video or photograph is done of the artist washing with the soap.

To become clean the other will decay and loose its original state. It is a more obvious physical change through the simple act of something we perform daily.

The final show for the audience would be the soap on diplay (If enough money an original made the year before shown next it), the photos on diplay of the twelve months of change (either large resined images or a small arrangement of the twelve resined and diplayed in a line together - similar to a timeline), and video or the images of the act of washing.
