composition six.

The artist places 8 microphones around a room. Originally I was thinking contact mics only but after sometime I think an array would do better. That number is flexible. Also 8 amplifiers or/and receivers, and speakers are placed throughout the room. Each speaker would be inside a box that at the top a circular hole had been cut that was cradling a bowl. The bowl would be filled with water with a light underneath (in the box). The bass for each speaker is turned all the way up. Do low lighting (colored if possible) so that the light from the water creates ambiance. Place leaves, hollow blown eggs, felt with crinkle paper below it, or other possible "noisy" items on the floor (Also may not be necessary - test out both ways (no floor items first) this really depends on the show space).

As people investigate the show, the microphones will transfer their sounds into amplified sound making the water react thus in turn making the water vibrate and the light shift shining through the water. Also the show will become breathy with the bass sounds. The show will only react if somewhere is there to interact. I feel like the most charming aspect to this piece is the tree falling in the woods makes a sound only if you are there insinuation. The viewer and artist are working together 100%

8 microphones would fluctuate. I have 4. (borrow)
120$ 8 Amplifiers also would fluctuate. See Altoid Amplifier $15 each.
48$ for 8 recievers (thrift store)
8 speakers (borrow)
8 boxes (draw diagram with measurements)

This project could easily be installed and accomplished for a one night viewing. Based on your network this could be a free installation. Also take into account the space you show as far as layout and possible floor sounds. And good equipment to acquire for future sound pieces.

1 day.
3 days Altoid Amp constructing.
3 days box construction.
